VISION

To build and nurture learning communities creating an integrated view of all Earth's systems in order to serve humankind's needs and desires for a sustainable and prosperous future.

MISSION

To lead a transition to sustainability, defined as meeting people's needs and values while protecting the Earth's life support systems.

To provide an integrated and creative learning environment that fosters intellectual growth, critical thinking, and practical engagement in research and management of the Earth system and resources.

GOALS

To provide the greatest scientific, educational, and public service return from suborbital research in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Make suborbital research a powerful and essential component of NASA's Science Directorate's study of the global Earth system.
Encourage partnerships with other agencies also conducting Earth System Science research.
Create the future for suborbital research of the entire Earth System by supporting the community of present researchers, educating their successors, and developing the technologies and techniques that will enhance the foregoing objectives.
